History & development
Constellational astrology uses actual sky regions or selected star patterns instead of twelve equal thirty-degree signs. The IAU standardized eighty-eight constellations and approved Eugène Delporte’s boundaries in 1928, publishing them in 1930. These boundaries serve astronomy; their adoption did not create a new astrological doctrine.
Mythology & symbolic world
Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, is one of the constellation figures crossed by the Sun’s apparent path. Its presence does not imply thirteen equal signs. The inherited figures preserve one set of cultural naming conventions, while other societies organize the same sky through different patterns and narratives.
Provenance: where the rules come from
A reproducible constellational method must state whether it uses IAU polygons, asterisms, unequal ecliptic segments or a practitioner’s custom zodiac. These alternatives differ from both tropical signs and conventional sidereal thirty-degree signs.

Astronomical classification
Transform a position into the coordinate epoch expected by the boundary dataset and determine the containing polygon.
The same Sun can have a tropical-sign label and a different IAU-constellation label without either calculation contradicting its stated convention.
Interpretive comparison
Keep the positions fixed while documenting how each school assigns boundaries and meaning.
Do not divide the circle by thirteen and call the result an IAU chart.
