History & development
Tropical natal astrology belongs to a long textual tradition that was repeatedly revised. Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos explicitly anchors signs to equinoxes and solstices. Contemporary Western practice combines that zodiac with later planets, competing house systems and several approaches to interpretation; it is not a single unchanged ancient system.
Mythology & symbolic world
Planet names and zodiac images supply a symbolic vocabulary. Ptolemy also argued through seasonal qualities such as heat and moisture, so historical astrology cannot be reduced entirely to stories about gods.
Provenance: where the rules come from
A reproducible chart records the birth evidence, civil-time conversion, coordinates, ephemeris and chosen zodiac. The interpretation requires a separate named school or author.
