How to use the annual-profections explorer

Explore the house, sign and traditional ruler associated with a chosen completed year of life.

Inputs: A natal profile with a reliable birth time and place, plus completed age 0–150. The tool uses the tropical Ascendant, whole-sign houses and traditional rulers.

  1. Enter a completed birthday age; age zero starts in the first house.
  2. Select an age on the wheel or in its table; use the twelve-year buttons to explore another cycle.
  3. Read the activated house, its annual lord and natal lord’s house, then inspect any traditional natal planets occupying the activated sign.
  4. Follow the cited method and qualifications; download the same settings and reading.
Teaching example · invented coordinates

Cancer rising at age 1 activates house 2 in Leo, ruled by the Sun. Age 13 repeats that sign/house/ruler combination.

Age entry only: no date conversion or exact birthday activation. This is introductory annual profection, with releasing and firdaria still separate.

Sources and conventions

History & development

Annual profections and zodiacal releasing are associated with surviving Hellenistic material and its modern reconstruction. Chris Brennan identifies Valens's Anthology as a source for releasing. Firdaria belongs to the broader historical family of period-rulership techniques, but requires a different table and should not be treated as another name for releasing.

Mythology & symbolic world

A 'time lord' is a planet or sign assigned symbolic authority over an interval. Fortune and Spirit supply starting references in releasing. This is a calendrical ordering of astrological meanings, not an additional orbit or a force changing on a birthday.

Provenance: where the rules come from

Preserve the starting point, completed-age convention, period lengths and hierarchy. Releasing exceptions and firdaria sequences need separately attributed implementations; a list of planet names does not specify a timing algorithm.

How it is calculated

From the tropical Ascendant sign, advance one sign per completed year of age; use whole-sign houses and traditional rulers.

Choices that change the result: Age 0–150 entered explicitly; no date conversion. Zodiacal releasing and firdaria need separate period methods.

Method 1

Annual profection

Enter completed age, starting at zero. This tool advances one sign per year from the tropical Ascendant and uses the seven traditional rulers. It links the activated house and natal ruler’s house to selective sourced topics.

Study example

Published teaching example: Cancer rising at age 0 gives house 1 / Cancer / Moon; age 1 gives house 2 / Leo / Sun; age 12 returns to Cancer and the Moon.
