History & development
Heliocentric astrology applies astrological interpretation to a Sun-centered chart. It is a distinct use of astronomical coordinates, not simply another house system. Philip Sedgwick's writings provide one contemporary practitioner framework, including Earth and relationships to planetary orbital features.
Mythology & symbolic world
Sun-centered readings may use Earth as a symbol of participation in a larger system. Sedgwick's Earth-sign material assigns life lessons through that symbolism. Such language belongs to his interpretive model, while the heliocentric position itself belongs to astronomy.
Provenance: where the rules come from
The workspace reads the engine's actual heliocentric positions, including Earth, and retains their returned coordinate flags. The wheel shows longitudes; its radial spacing is for labels. The inspector gives physical latitude, Sun–body distance and longitude speed.
How it is calculated
Choices that change the result: Select a body, optionally include the Moon and set a 0–10° maximum orb. The five major aspect types are fixed. The coordinate frame and interpretation school are not selectable controls in this workspace.
Inspect your calculated data →Uses & use cases
- Inspect Earth's actual heliocentric position and distance.
- Explore selected-body conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines and oppositions.
- Include the Moon to compare its separate Sun-centred coordinates with Earth's.
Interpretation methods
Read a Sun-centred configuration
Select a body on the wheel or in the table, then inspect its longitude contacts. Use the listed orb and separation rather than the visual label spacing. Compare with a geocentric chart separately when the chosen practitioner method calls for it.
Place Earth symbolism in its source
The Earth inspector identifies Sedgwick's Earth–natal-Sun polarity as a developmental reading. Follow that source for his approach; the workspace does not generate a complete Sedgwick report or provide a school selector.
Read Earth's displayed sign, then consult the corresponding natal Sun sign as a symbolic polarity. Keep the physical ephemeris value instead of forcing an exact opposition to an apparent Sun longitude.

Disagreements & limits
- No terrestrial Ascendant, Midheaven or house cusps are assigned.
- The Moon is an optional calculated body; omission is a display choice.
- Displayed aspects are ecliptic-longitude separations, not three-dimensional angular distances.
- No automatic school-specific interpretation or event forecast is generated.
Sources & evidence
Practitioner sources describe their own systems. Historical and astronomical sources support different kinds of claims. Reading exercises are editorial teaching examples.
