Jaimini astrology names a body of techniques transmitted through terse sutras, commentaries and modern teaching. The boundary between Jaimini and Parashari practice is itself disputed: Rao’s teaching argues for substantial overlap rather than two wholly separate traditions.
Mythology & symbolic world
Attribution to the sage Jaimini establishes traditional authority within the literature. Terms such as atmakaraka invite spiritual readings, but a ranked planetary degree is a reproducible label; interpreting it as the soul’s purpose is a further religious claim.
Provenance: where the rules come from
The registry names chara-karaka and sign-period methods as research topics. It does not silently substitute Vimshottari, whose mansion-based mechanism is different.

If Venus has the highest eligible within-sign degree, it receives the highest rank under that chosen scheme; changing eligibility may change the result.
