Traditional Sanskrit name: khavedāṃśa.

Aṃśa means a portion. The alternative numerical name Catvāriṃśāṃśa identifies a fortieth part. Khavedāṃśa is attested in the classical list, but a precise historical explanation of khaveda’s formation is not established here.
