Read the pair in order
A profile preserves two different placements. The first number belongs to the Personality Sun/Earth at birth; the second belongs to the Design Sun/Earth. In Human Design these sides are interpreted as conscious and unconscious respectively. A 1/3 therefore cannot be reversed to 3/1: the order records which calculation supplied each line.
To inspect a result, begin with the two Sun records. Locate their gate and line fields, compare the line numbers with the displayed pair, and retain the birth-time convention when saving the result. The role words add an interpretive layer to those inspectable inputs.

Why twelve pairs appear
The Design calculation locates the Sun 88 degrees earlier, so the two line numbers cannot vary independently. With equal 0.9375-degree lines, this offset allows two Design lines for each Personality line. This is an angular constraint, not a survey showing twelve kinds of person. A result outside the twelve-pair set needs its calculation checked before interpretation.
Angle names and personal meaning
Jovian Archive groups seven profiles as Right Angle, 4/1 as Juxtaposition, and four as Left Angle. Its themes concern personal destiny, fixed fate and transpersonal karma. These are teachings within the system, not measured life outcomes.
Read both line themes as invitations to observation. Record a concrete example and a counterexample rather than forcing an experience to fit. The profile angle is separate from the left/right labels used for Tone and Variable.
