Location · time · angular encounters
Paran explorer
Find planets and stars reaching the horizon or meridian together.
Choose a place and a day window
Compare the same sky through different definitions of a day. The chosen window controls which angular encounters appear.
How to use a paran search
- Choose the place, local date, day convention and bodies. A fixed window also needs a clock time; calendar and sunrise days use the whole selected date.
- Choose the maximum difference between angular events. A wider tolerance returns more candidates.
- Select a pair and inspect both actual times, especially around the window boundary.
- Compare named interpretive sources and the complete chart. The geometry does not supply an automatic prediction.
Upper/lower meridian means crossing the local meridian, not necessarily a planet’s exact maximum/minimum altitude. Fixed 24-hour and sunrise-day windows can differ from the local calendar day. Sunrise uses an ideal geometric horizon, not atmospheric visibility or twilight. High-latitude missing events are not replaced by invented times.
